Best I can tell.... the desireable 4.1L motors are the '83 and '84 ones. (correct me if I am wrong).... I also think I have read (again....correct me if I am wrong).... that the donor cars will have a 4bbl carb..... What potential cars am I looking for? station wagons? 4 door sedans? ... all Buick I assume....

I found a couple of posts referring to potential donor cars..... but which ones are relitavely easy to find in the yards.... any of them more so than any of the other ones? Also.... do any of the 4.1's have any better heads? or do some have the same heads?

I usually find the 4.1 in the 4 door RWD Century and Regals more than any other model. Only the 84's have the 8445 heads. All others have the 6293's. All factory cars have the 4V manifold. Good luck, those motors are getting hard to come by now.

I got a 484 block (minus crank) with 6293 heads just sitting here, are these heads worth any time? One of these days I might find the time to actually do a budget 4.1 build or just sell car and all.

For the most part they are the same as the 8445's, some even had bridged water passages. I believe they port just as well but having gone with champion CNC's on my 4.1 I didn't touch my 6293's. Rivs and Caddys had 4.1's aswell. Most 4.1's will have turbo cranks, 2 dot rods, and 6293 heads if unrebuilt. If its been rebuilt most likely the turbo crank is gone and it might have been given 8445 heads.
