I just bought this car and the preveious owner said that the oil seal in the turbo had dried out and cracked. The car has been sitting for about ten years. The motor and turbo were rebuilt about 20k miles before being parked. They said that it is blowing oil out the turbo. I was going to pull the turbo off and put new seals in it, but I cant seem to reach all the bottom bolts around the turbo. Do I need to remove the intake or carb to get the turbo off. I have tried looking for info online but have had no luck. Im new to the turbo buicks and finally found one to tinker with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also it is a 83 t-type.

the bolts can be taken off with a swivel socket. As for the turbo rebuild you can do it yourself ( Garrett T3, T4, T3/T4 Kits ) or go and find a.j(dr_frankenstein) he can do it for you. Or you can get a used turbo for around $60 plus shipping off someone. i think jase (flintbuickforlife) had a extra. Aj sells used turbos too i think.
check out beforeblack.net for more info on your setup.

Thanks for the info. I have most of the bolts off but on the bottom I cant even hardly get a wrench to the bolts. Very tight space with all the hoses and line running around. I know i could rebuild it if could just get the turbo off.

as i said a swivel socket will get the job done; it does for me. you may have to move some hoses out of your way.
