OK guys,

I just finished replacing the rear main seal on my 84 GN, just after I did the one on my 87. What a pain in the butt.....

I knew where to disconnect the computer to get the oil presure up before starting on the 87, but how do I do it on the 84?

I don't see the orange + battery wire like on the 87, but there is a red wire "loop" by the + battery.. is that the connection??

Thanks for any help!

It's the small wire coming off the positive cable near the battery. Pretty much the same location as the 87s. Mine is orange but a friend's is red.

I have a red one that looks lile it's looped to and from the wire (could be because of the tape.. I'll disconnect it.

Thanks!

Red wire sounds like somebody has something hotwired into the positive battery cable. Look for an orange wire between the battery and the overflow jug. Its hiding down in that area usually.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input gang..

Since I didn't see a clear disconnect feature for the orangish wire, I disconneted the coil pack connector... All worked fine and I'm up and running again! :D

To find out if its the right wire, unplug it, and turn the ignition in the on position. then plug it back in and you should hear the fuel pump prime the fuel lines. If it does it, you know thats the cpu disconnect.

Also, the car will not start if this wire is disconnected. A good poor man's alarm. :D

Very true, but, ....... the ECM needs to relearn IAC and BLM each time you unplug.
