My 84 Turbo light is on at idle and off just a notch above idle, or off at idle and then on when the rpm's start climbing (depending on the position of the moon)... Scratch that last part.

I just did my rear main seal, and while doing so lifted the engine a tad with my cherry picker as well as disconnected the oil pack main connector to spin the engine over to gain oil pressure before starting. All seemed OK after starting it and letting it run a few times. The car ran fine before the seal change.

I drove it 8 miles to work and all seemed OK.. But,on the way home, I pounced on it to race my buddy's Mustang.. Major Loud Pinging occured. After driving it home and taking it easy, I found the vac hose from an intake fitting to the waste gate had popped off. Seeing it was so soft that it split moving it, I replaced it. I still pinged and found a vac hose to the fuel pressure regulator was off, so I re-installed that. Also, my after market boost gage stopped working and I found the hose melted... talk about timing. After I plugged that "t" fitting till I can get another hose, this new incident occured.
The yellow "Turbo" on light is on and off at will so it seems. I found where the switch is near the ac box. Is it adjustable or does anyone have an idea as to what suddenly happened? It normally has a vacuum pull at idle.

The "waste gate open" light had stopped working a while ago, but this Turbo" light worked fine until I lifted the engine to re-install the oil pan.

Does anyone have insight into this circuit and how it should operate?

By the way, the pinging is gone now with vacuum lines fixed!

Never Mind....

I found that the Vacuum Cap I placed on the Vac T fitting blew off causing a small vac leak.... All is good again!
