Is there a post or write up on step by step what to buy and how to convert to the simpler more reliable vacuum brakes from a 87 REGULAR non turbo regal?

I also want to convert my rear drum brakes to disc.

I searched on here and found odds and ends, but no 'recipe'

If you do a search you will find that the people that switch to vac brakes are not happy with them and most people say the hydroboost that we have is the best set up because it holds more boost at the line and is not prone to failure like the powermaster set up. To each his own, do what is best for you.

This is not true. While there is a small minority of folks who are not satisfied with their conversion, a vast majority are. I've heard some good stuff about the hydra boost, but for new parts they cost almost $600. I've also heard bad stuff on them. If you already have hydra boost, I'd be sure to look into rebuilt units. However, for the cost and reliabilty of vacuum brakes, you can't go wrong with them.

Well i should have made it a little clearer. I had a brake problem and i posted a thread on it ( check for yourself) and after doing a search to find what was involved and what i needed i found numerous threads from POWERMASTER equipped 86-87 gns that had switched to the vac setup and said they could not hold half the psi to launch off the line and SOME of them said they were going to go the hydraboost route because it is a better system according to the posts out there. So i fixed my system with a $20 master cylinder and now it works great and the hydraboost has over 204k on it. I found the required parts in the junkyard sect. of this board. Just do some searching before you just commit to what someone says, hell if my hydraboost goes out and costs a mint i might go vac but until then i wont. Besides look a reds sig and notice that he sells a vac kit. And i wondered why he was against hydraboost:D Hey Red are you the one who sells the stay down fuel door, how much shipped:)
