will a 86 to 87 turbo fit a 84 gn cause my buddy needs one his 84 is smoking thanks in advance

It's not a bolt on. It can be adapted. Your friend needs to send his old one off for a rebuild or he can have the stock turbo machined for any size wheels he wants. The most popular is the TA33 which is basically a TA49 in the 84 housings.
