84 ignition control issues

Hey there guys...I got a few questions about my 84 ignition control..as we all know they do not make a replacement control for the 84. I would need to buy an 86 87 control and get an adapter to make the wires lineup in the proper locations. but i also read on someone elses post that you can just simply re-pin the connector that came on the car. that seems to me to be the way i want to attack this issue, much cheaper than buying the adapter and waiting for it to get here and such. if anyone has done this before or maybe has any information on what pins go where i would appreciate the information thanks
