84 water pump replacement problem

Hello all,

I feel like a real idiot because I know I have done this before but...

How do I get the pulleys and fan off the front of the water pump.

I unnecessarily removed the fan from the clutch. Whatever.

Then there were four bolts that looked to be bolting the pulley to the water pump. Now I know that those must be studs since my new water pump has holes, but how do I take them out? Or did somebody (me?) put them in backwards last time?

If I remember correctly Remove the nuts on the 4 studs to remove the pulley then all ull see is ur water pump with the 4 studs left on it if r having trouble taking them off ( like I did) just leave them on there and replace them on ur new water pump they sell them separately for use on water pumps at kragen auto parts, the kragen water pumps come with 4 new studs to replace which is nice, I didn't know that, I had bought mine at autozone which doesn't come with the studs, anyway just leave the old studs on ur old water pump and put new ones on HTH

Thanks, that does help. I've got the nuts off (and the belts off) so I guess the pulley is just stuck. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something before I brought out the hammer.

Yea your still good it can be a tight fit for the pulley just give it some love taps with a rubber mallet

The fan was really stuck on the pump shaft, but it finally came off. Thanks again.
