Cool, sometimes it's something simple like base fuel pressure or a setting in the Translator.

FWIW, some of us ditch the EGR so we don't have to deal with issues like you might be running into. The chip can kill the CEL and Buick GN sells the plate for the EGR location on the intake.

I found that the check valve to the egr solenoid was bad as well as the solenoid.i plugged the egr vacuum line and raised my fuel pressure to 43 with line off and 37 line on.i watched the blm's drop from 144 to 130 then came back to 144.i shut the car off, unplugged the ecm and restarted the car and the blm's stayed at 128 - 130 sometimes dropping to 122.the car runs good but surges a little at idle.i'm going to replace the egr soleniod and check valve.
My new scanmaster readings hot at idle are: (egr plugged)
af #05
l8 #33-38
int #128
blm #128-130
ats #88
tps #.44
iac #20-23
i dont think you could own a grandnational without a scan tool, this forum, and a little know how! Thanks guys!

Get the correct check valves from GM. They are still available. They are smaller in diameter but heavier duty(bulky).

Glad your getting close to home with her :D

can you give me or do you have the gm # on check valve because i called today at my local dealer and the check valve is discontinued as well as the egr solenoid.

i got a new check valve today and a vacuum solenoid ($55.00 carquest)for the egr but can someone tell me how the vacuum solenoid works.i but a vacuum pump to the new solenoid and it wont hold vacuum.you can hear the suction threw the filter,is this normal? i have not installed it yet but it would seem to me that all its going to do is repeat my original problem.when you start the car does the solenoid close, holding vacuum?does the poston thumb wheel chip use the egr or should i just plug the line?

I believe it is shut when you run the car. So that it cant leak.

installed new check valve and egr soleniod today, started the car and my blm's stayed around 127 - 131 at idle, hot.egr soleniod must shut when running holding vacuum.the vacuum pump was the best tool for me to help find my problem with a known good intake manifold gasket. thanks guys for all the help!
