87 buick GN trans have a filter or just a screen?

about to change fluid and install a trans cooler, ordering parts and only found a screen and not a trans filter. any help appreciated, Ron

If you have a Factory transmission pan the use the filter 200-4r opening with the tube facing upward
If you have a deep transmission pan then use a 700-4r filter
Very important, one of the pictures there is a square line box showing a metal clip to prevent the filter from touching the electrical post terminals, and also use shrinking tubing on all terminals to prevent the filter metal casing from grounding out the post terminals.

some deep pan setups use a screen filter from other trans, usually 727. post up a pic
 
thanks for the responses, as for the heat shrink on the terminals , thats great advice, thanks GNONYX. i forgot where i found the part, gonna try locate and post, was a trans shop in st pete florida, sunn state transmissions. lemme see what i can find
