Got an opinion question. My car was recently inspected and the mileage was accidentally entered into the DMV system with an extra zero. Actual mileage was 58,439 and it was entered as 584,390. All previous documents support the actual mileage and the fact that these cars won't actually record a 6 digit mileage makes it a very obvious error in my opinion. The inspector feels really bad about it and is willing to go above and beyond to correct the problem including going to the regional DMV office with me and the car to explain the error and request a correction. The reality is that it will be a real PITA to correct and I'm wondering if it is worth the effort. What do you guys think? If you were going to buy a car and it was obviously a good condition car with one clear error in the records, would it be a problem for you? Trying to figure out what to do.
