Morning,

I have just purchased an 87 gn which sat for years so there is bound to be some issues I have fixed some but the car starts runs rough then stalls while driving. It will then fire back up no problem run for about 30 seconds then die again. Not really ideal on a main road. I am not sure where to start if it is a vaccum issue or a fuel issue. The engine was rebuilt approx 200km ago is what I was told but you never can tell. Any info would help as I would love to just enjoy the car and not wrench on it to much.

Could be lots if things. Really need more info. What's fuel pressure? Could be bad pump, bad maf, coilpack, ignition module, crank sensor.

I will have to get back to you with the info I have the rad pulled out to be replaced as the oem one was leaking. So I can't even run the car right now.

Which maf do you have? Sounds like the MAF but that's kind of a guess.

If its original you can unplug it and see if it runs any better. If its original replace it with a modern one with translator.

So what's the Scanmaster numbers with the engine at operating temperature.

Morning, I have just got this car and do not have a scanmaster. I am creating a shopping list of stuff that I have been told is a must. This is one of many things that are on my list.

Purchase a Scanmaster. All you're doing right now is guessing. A Scanmaster will give you data to better pinpoint the problem, rather than throwing money at it.

This is a quick list of what is done to the car already from the previous owner.
It has a data logger on the ecm which is where I need the scanmaster for I am thinking.
New pistons and rings bored .20 over
Heads and intake ported
New valves
stock rods with arp bolts
stock crank
200r4 tranny with 2800 stall
370 rear gear
new timing with comp cams components.
Stock turbo

Okay thanks I appreciate it. Where is the best place to get a scanmaster? Which is the best one to buy?

What brand data logger was used with ecm. First I would post in parts section for used or new SM. If no luck there are several vendors on this forum that sales new SM. ( Full Throttle, Caspers and more.

Morning, I am not sure to be honest with you. I will check out the parts section for sure. Thanks.

Scanmaster is made by Bob Bailey. You can Google him to find his website...Bailey Engineering. Steve Wood put together a very informative website. You can also converse with him on Face Book.

Is it a stock ecm or aftermarket? Makes no sense for a stock ecm to have a logger ie; Powerlogger added to the stock ecm and not run a Scanmaster as well. Take a picture of the ecm and post it.
