Whats up everyone my brother just bought this car and from the drive i took it runs great but when i looked at the tranny from the bottom of car it doesnt have a plug hooked up to it.Shouldnt
it have the plug on for lockup. Any info would be appreciated. TIA RUDY

Information seems hard to come by here, so I guess I'll have to pry it out of you. Since it has a big block, tell us about it. Fuel injected, or carburated???? Original computer still being used???? I doubt it, which would explain the absence of a tranny connector.

If it is a 2004R and has been converted to n/l, then it is possible it needs no wires.... just won't have the l/u converter in it......

No computer hooked up. Its carburated and probably non lockup.Havent had too much time to check it. Maybe this saturday.
Anyway thanks for all your responds. Rudy

Unless specifically modified to be a non-lockup setup (which I would presume one would remember), it would still be a lockup and require the plug to be connected. However, without the computer and OEM 305/electronic Qjet rats nest in place there is nothing to tell the converter to lock/unlock and when.

You (or your brother) should swap to a good quality non-lockup converter along with the pump mod to properly accomodate the non-lockup status. This is the most logical way to go in your situation IMHO. If you wish to retain the lockup feature (especially if running a loose or off the shelf "stall" converter) you will need to employ one of the many options to achieve it. I personally have tried most of them and prefer the B&M speed selector lockup kit which allows me to set the lockup for whatever speed I wish and the unit takes care of the converter. Works great especially with a more aggressive cam because you don't want the lockup too low in the rpm range in that instance lest it causes "bucking" like a manual trans being lugged.

Hey everyone look at how my brother screwed up this car.

TERRIBLE!But I scored the wheels that he had on it before.

Well to each his own. I'm not a fan of those big rims on any G body but not everyone has class either. ;) Just inform your bro he might want to upgrade the brakes to help stop the extra rolling mass. If that car really has a big block it must be underpowered....the rear tire should have gone up in smoke. Then again maybe it's just a worn out 396?

I hate it now it will never be like it was with all the chopping on the wheel wells. Oh and the brakes didnt stop the car when he first pulled it in. He ran into the cabinet in front at idle speed because he said the brakes wouldnt stop him(pedal went to the floor). Seems doing this just gave him buzzard luck. I just hope he dont plan on doing this with the 54 skylark if and when we pick it up. Thanks Rudy

Positive we are 2 different people. I dont like that s--t on any car. I wouldnt even put them on my truck.

One thing you might bring up to him is the added stress that the suspension parts are now under. The bushings will deteriorate much quicker and the stress on the rear LCA's is increased, which can cause them to rip.:(

Man, hitch a team of horses up to that thing and you'll have a stage coach with those wheels! (Too bad there isn't a gag Icon)

i'd hate to see how low the cruise rpm is on that thing with the 2.41 gears that are probably in it, the overdrive trans, and those tall tires..
