I went to start my good old 87' today to take to work and when I put the key in and turned it over got nothing no power what so ever. It was like the car had no juice at all. Last night when we were coming home from dinner the car did a very odd thing something "clicked" sounded like it was interior side and the ses light flashed on for a split second and the scanmaster flashed off then back on like a fresh startup??? the car ran fine the rest of the way home and then today dead....... Any thoughts? I had no chance to check the volts yet or anything I had to head off to work. Thanks!

Its only 2 years old and its a gell cell. Contacts should be good. I dont think thats the issue. I have also noticed that in the past the lights seem to dim down then brighten back up at night. I have thought maybe the alternator?

Don't assume anything, especially that the b attery and cables are good. The dimming lights could be caused by a bad ground or the regulator in the alt has/is going bad.

I've had TWO new, good quality batteries melt a conductor inside and leave me stranded- after you clean the wires up, see if some of your small stuff will work.

similiar situation happend to me but the battery died before i made it home. charge the battery then check to see the alternator is charging the battery.

starter wires

I was on the way to Reynolds a couple years ago, stopped to get gas without a problem.Got back in the car and had no power at all,not even interior lights.I tightened up the starter wires and no more problems............
