I just bought a brand new top radiator support (GM) for my hot air. My radiator doesn't seem to fit (too small). Is a 86-87 radiator larger or mounting areas just different?
Thanks

You can make it work...

You can purchase an '87 upper support bracket and it should work fine.

The later radiators are about 6" wider than the hotair ones and are a direct bolt in. All you have to do is remove the shield or whatever that thing is to the side of the stock radiator and run the correct upper support which you already have. You will need to move the driver side lower rubber mounting thing over and find an upper hose that fits. Also will need the correct tranny cooler line adaptors. A new stock replacement radiator is under $100.

Am I missing a bracket? I have the top radiator support. I have a 87 electric fan, can't seem to find what it bolts to? It has 2 holes with rubber grommets on top, but doesn't seem to line up with anything. Is this the bracket you are talking about?
Thanks

Did you buy the upper support from a GM dealer and tell them it is for an 86/7 GN/TR??? If you did, it will have the brackets with the holes in it to mount the fan to...If you said it was for the V8 Regal, then you got the plain jane upper support without the electric fan mount tabs...The 87 TR electric fan should have braces or brackets on it to mate up with the tabs with holes on the upper radiator support bracket...

The upper radiator hose that works for the 86/87
radiator in a hot air car is Gates p/n 21188.
It may be a little long at the manifold connection,
so just trim to fit.

Does anyone have te GM part number for the upper radiator support for the 86-87 turbo regal?

If you have the upper support for the wider radiator, I would suggest getting a four core from a V8 from79-87. It can be just about any GM. The radiator fits right in there. I used the upper support and radiator from an 82 Delta 88. It fits perfectly. I 86'ed the fan shroud for an electric fan set up, and now have enough room to add another turbo six in front of the old one.

An 86/87 IC fills the hole up, though. And that's what I am using with the Turbo Motion set up.

Funny that you should say that, so am I. By the way, I bet your an 84 Maybe in two tone grey. Maybe in the Tri-State turbo club?

6 to go, where did you get that part #? I've been using one of those ugly universal hoses for almost 4 years. I will definately be getting that hose soon.

Cool 84
I got that from a radiator shop (RJR Radiator in Cincinnati)
that fixed my 86 radiator for me. He had one that I bought.
It works perfect!

My 84 is black and gray (WH1 package) and yes, I am in with the Tri State guys. Join up.
