87 Regal Limited, Brake lights inop...

I just picked up a 1987 Buick Regal Limited. It has a 350 sbc swapped in place of the the 307. Anyways, I noticed that the brake lights are inop. The rest of the lights work, even the taillight part of the brake bulbs. I bought a brake switch just to test, but no luck w/ that. Is there any relay or fuse for the brake lights? I checked the fuse, its ok. where is the chassis ground located for the brake circuit? Any help would be great. I need to get this car road worthy!!

The Brake Light Circuit Runs Through The Turn Signal Switch. Had To Replace On Mine To Fix Brake Lights. Check Connector At Lower Steering Column. The Wire For Brake Light Was Melted There On Mine.

correct, wire is white in the long plug on the column.
