i just bought an 87 type dont really know where to start with upgrade for the motor but want a good amount of horsepower got any idea of what i should start with?

Hello and welcome.

Easy things first?

The downpipe and exhaust system behind it are a good place to start. When choosing an exhaust system you may want to choose one that has minimal drone.

An upgraded intake system forward of the throttle body should help. Picking up cooler dry air is beneficial.

Your probably know this but just in case...watching for detonation and reducing the tendency to detonate is important on turbo engines.

Hopefully this will get you started doing some research on the site. Learn as much as you can on a topic then come back with questions that might fill in those missing bits.

i apreciate your response, thank you

WELCOME PILGRIM!!!
Glad to have you on board, congradulations on the buy as well. Knowledge is what makes horsepower and keeps these engines together at the same time. If you want a good experience w/your new girlfriend, and she is running w/o problems. Spend some time reading and asking questions so as not to be spending money on mismatched combinations of parts and blown h/g's. It's not too much fun spending more time under the hood than in the drivers seat.
We would like you to enjoy your time w/the new maiden rather than becoming a slave to the "wrench"!

I WOULD START BY LISTING WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE ..MAYBE WE CAN HELP MAKE WHAT YOU HAVE BETTER . AND GO FROM THERE ..

A scanmaster will help you tune before and after mods...it would be a good investment if you don't have one already.

Search "spring cleaning" IMO, This is a must along with scan-master before doing any engine/HP mods. After you order your scan-master, sit in front of the PC on this site and read...read...read. Congrats on your TB
