I'm looking at a WE4 car that has the J41 code for iron brake drums on the SPID and was wondering if these were an option or were the standard?

For some reason I was thinking the J42 Aluminum Drums were supposed to be on the WE4.

you got a picture of the label? To the best of my knowledge the we4s got aluminum drums

I have seen both from the factory

I just looked at the 87-031 bulletin and it does not show posi as part of the WE4 package so I assume it was an option.

That said, there could be peg legged WE4's out there.

With these cars being 25+ years old drums could have been changed. My sons 87 GN all original 45K peg leg with aluminum drums that are still in decent shape. My 86 had one each with 143K on the clock when I bought the car. lol
Now they are both iron, the aluminum one finally wore out. I'm a little over 200K on the car now.

Yes g80 was optional until the late run when the Grand National became is own model.

My WE4 has iron drums too.

The guy I bought mine from had 3 for sale at one time. One posi with iron drums one posi with aluminum druns and one non posi with iron drums.

My posi WE4 has irons on it. A non posi WE4 roller I got had aluminum on it .

Info posted is correct posi was an option throughout the turbo regal line up and non posis as long as employees were on the ball received the aluminum brake drums.

You would think since the we4 was promoted as being quicker than the GN being it was lighter all we4s would have gotten aluminum drums and perhaps the VD6 and VD7 coded aluminum bumper supports...

also WE4s could be well optioned and everyone knows options ad weight such as astro roofs power seats and the like.

Posi was a $100 option I believe without checking.

Shedding weight is the easiest form of developing more power to the street. If you think I am wrong take 3 of your heaviest friends for a ride in your turbo regal and it will feel like your car dropped 50 hp....

The WE4 did get one thing rite in the weight category....the t wheels at about 15-17 lbs each are alot lighter than the GN 30lb wheels. This can be verified by dropping a GN wheel on your bare foot versus a T wheel. Pain would be noticeably different levels.

Above is all in humor..
