I am having a 3rd member put together and the gear selection for the 9" rears is in .25 inc. i wanted to keep the 3.42 ratio but it's 3.50 or 3.25 should i do the 3.50? will that small increase in ratio be a issue?
Chris

there are literally hundreds of different gear ratios for the 9" ranging from the low 2.0's up to the 7:1 range.. look around and find one closer to what you want. a quick google search told me that there are 3.40 gears out there.

there are gears available, but at what cost?
I'd use the 3.50 gear and run a slightly taller tire to compensate,
OEM were 215-65-15 - 26 in tall
most everyone runs a larger tire, 265 or 275 60-15 28 in tall

Depends on your power output, if your Under 500hp go the 3:50's, If your Over 500hp put the 3:20's in, If not- You Will Run OUT of GEAR in the 1/4 mile, Been here done this...;^)

Enjoy!

(I "crusie" at 80mph with the 3:20's on the HWY with 28" tall tire, the 3:50's 120mph was top speed, thats with art carr 3500rpm converter )
Turbo cars need a gear to pull on...

I will probably be running a 26" tall tire in 17 or 18" and it will have a fairly stout motor but it will see mostly street use with some track time and maybe some auto-x!
