90-95 Ford Taurus/Sable 3.8 Electric Fan

Anyone else running one of these fans on your cars? I hooked one up to mine and WOW! I have no t-stat and it doesnt go past 160. I got one from a pick n pull for 28bux out the door :biggrin:

Yeah, I run one. I have a hybrid with a small rad, and it really helps keeping the beast cool. I can get away with it on low most of the time, and only need to turn it on to high when it's a really hot day and I'm sitting in traffic.

Any wiring hints or requirements?

Got the whole fan off and have to install it on the WE4.

I am thinking the stock fan low speed relay might work low speed wiring okay on it.

High speed might require a direct battery feed and a larger than stock relay?

I have a 70A one here I could use or find a 40A one I think the stockers may be 30A.

I have the whole fan plus the wiring harness including the Ford circuit breakers and all. Might as well use that assembly for safety.

Any info. or links to install or other threads etc. would be appreciated.

Anyone try to lube the motor, shaft, etc. prior to install?

Doesn't seem like it would be easy to do with the blades on it.

That fan sucks air bigtime.

I love my Fort Taurus fan! High speed rocks! Installation was simple, and the best part $13 from the upull yard...I have 2 spares sitting at home

It needs to be modded a little, but it really sucks!!..in a GOOD way!

Works for me.
Keep in mind if you run AC, you have to have air flowing even if your engine temp is 160 degrees!

I will take some pictures and post them.

Mine will be a quick and dirty install in salvageV6.

I'll save the stock fan for the GN which will get an alum. radiator some day.

Just looking for 10 degree lower temps. with the A/C in the summer.

Too much stuff in the way for anything bigger than the Sable fan.

Gonna add a relay for high speed operation probably in parallel with the stocker, or else two 30A to 40A relays or one big one 70A off the battery for the high speed operation the inrush current is huge on it.

I think low speed operation can be done by the stock relay.
