Big mistake is right. But he knew how bad it was right away.Id be amazed if he doesnt loose his job.

Unfortunately we get those calls all the time. The parents have failed doing their job. The Police must respond to fix something that has been going bad for 12 to 13 1/2 years.

Of course when the Police arrive and decide to take the girls to Juv detention the parent always says ..."thats not what I called for.... i just want you to scare them"

If the parents have no common sense why should the kids...

I say take a paddle put some holes in it for less resistance and let the 12 and 13 yr old have it, this is what happens when parents dont take control of thier kids at an early age, always calling on someone else to fix the problem, i say good for the dispatcher but you are right, that was a funny remark that will probably end up costing him his job.. lol

Yep.
That and it's just so *in* to be a victim. Parents not having a clue about child raising, and then wondering what went wrong.

It's sad that your probably right about the guy losing his job. While he was out of line, to an outraged parent like she was, they'll be no satisfying her, until a lawyer gets involved, and further messes up the system. What happened to 911 being for life threatening emergenies?. Now, it's so abused, sometimes people can really be in dire straights by the time they get though, while someone is reporting their lack of parenting skills.

What else was this women to do? If she beat her kids they'd have her locked up for child abuse.. that's how screwed up everything is now...

If the woman was so concerned about her out of control teen then why did she seem so interested in reporting the guy. If the kid was that bad, then she should have only been concerned with the kid. She could always complain later. They should have sent an officer over to arrest her. She obviously is guilty of child abuse as far as I am concerned. She hasn't raised her children properly, and should be held accountable for everything that they do. The kids are in for a rude awakening when they hit the real world and find out they can't act like animals, and that they will be held responsible for their own actions. The parents are at fault here. The woman is obviously out to blame everyone and anyone, except for herself.
Why are these people allowed oxygen? I'll never know.

I've never understood why people are so damn touchy. Come on, he was just trying to be friendly and make a dumb little joke....she should be expecting a frivolous attitude- after all, how rediculous is the reason for her call? I'm contacting car 54 right now, 'Shoot the kids and slap the mother'.

What happened to 911 being for life threatening emergenies

Not any more bruce. My idea of an emergency and others idea of emergencies are two different things. 911 gets called for skunks in the backyard, what time the library opens, unrulely children as in this case, roads not plowed of snow, trash on the side of the road, a goose stuck in the marsh, whale sightings, problems in other towns, nieghbor disputes, runaways.................I could go on and on and on and on. When a medical call comes in of what is considered a non-emergency situation , we get spoken to about why did we bring so many people! When the caller is reminded that they called EMERGENCY 911, they get offended. 911 is NOT 411. It is state law here in whack MA that ANY 911 shall be responded to, regardless of the nature. The selfishishness of some has no bounds. If a caller calls 911 and emergency services is busy responding to barking dogs be prepared to wait because you see, that barking dog is FAR more important than the other guys heart attack. Because peoples interpretation of severity is subjective, prioritizing calls is virtually impossible

Well listen here's what happened to my parents. My sister, call her a bad seed or whatever, was a pretty unruley child. My parents tried everything they could to discipline her (stuff that worked on the other 3) and one day she tried to smack my mother. My mom smacked her ass back hard. My sister who was 14 reported her for child abuse. Nothing was ever charged, but they did have a long talk with my mother. It was ridiculous. So next time my mother called the police and had her ass arrested. May be riduclous or bad parenting, but if you don't let the parents beat their children when they have run out of options, then what else can they do?

FYI, this happened just a few miles away for me. The operator just got a warning and that was it, he gets to keep his job unless he does something stupid again like that.....sad thing is, the lady will probably end trying to sue the city for some depression or some crap from being asked if they wanted to come shoot her child...

I agree. Child abuse is wrong, but there is also good parenting, and sometimes good parenting involves physical discipline. Causing unnecessary pain is not right, but hitting them hard enough to make it sting can work wonders. I don't condone always hitting kids, but sometimes it is all that works. As for this woman, she should learn to discipline the kids better. I'm thinking that she should start by taking away their cell phones, and then maybe their credit cards if that doesn't work. If she doesn't want to spank them, then start hitting them where it really hurts. Take away the material things that mean so much to them.

I am SO glad that my father used to whoop me when I was a kid. Seriously, I am so thankful for that.

Another factor here is that kids are told from day one that they're so special and all this other sh!t.....they end up convinced that thier sh!t don't stink. I remember when I was young it was made clear to you that anything you eventually get will be the result of earning it. I guess what I'm saying is, not only have the parents gotten worse but all of a kid's environment has been slowly knocked out of whack in the last 20 years. Now where's that handbasket.....?

. Take away the material things that mean so much to them.

well, that is just it.........................some of these kids don't care about anything. Take a kid that gets adopted out dept of social services. The family that adopts the kid provides a nice home, education, material items , sports, doctors, attention coming out of the butt but guess where these kids want to go?
home.............regardless of how bad it is. This isn't the case in this thread but my point is kids have a warped sense of what's what and follow up on plenty of bad advice given to them.

off the soap box now

OK this comes from personal experience, my parents specially my mother use to punish me really bad with a leather belt amoung other things that i will not mention. the go to room, no movies this weekend or no hanging out with your friends (DOES NOT WORK WITH KIDS) it may work up to the age of 7 but after that things change, parents need to take a little more control and take other measures to discipline thier kids, yes i was beat but i didn't turn out a beater myself., I think my parents did the right thing by doing what they did, i remember specially my dad, when my brother and I were about to get pusnished Just the thought of it would make me piss in my pants, using a belt a paddle or a open hand to punish your kid is not child abuse, is called (HANDS ON DISCIPLINE) and taking charge of your un-ruly child is not a crime is a MUST..

It may or may not work but improper behaivor can not go unchecked. If it doesn't curb the childs behaivor, the kid will at least know.................if NOTHING else, it didn't meet approval

same here! about 10 years ago my mom showed my wife & I the belt my dad whipped me with. I had to laugh when I saw how worn it was in the middle from being folded in 1/2. yes it hurt like hell (back then) but I look back & it realy taught me respect in many ways.
we don't have children, we don't want any because we both would end up in jail for doing the right thing. when we go out to eat they ask smoking or non, we ask for no children section because I can't stand when kids act like animals. I got smacked in public for this & if I started crying I got it harder!
when I thought I was to old for an ass whoppin (16 I knew everything) I said FU to my dad wrong thing to do no belt was involved, fists were. to this day I do not say the F word in front of my dad, why it's called respect!!!

I hear parents say to their kids, I'm gonna send you to TIME OUT.

Boy does that make me laugh. The only time out i had was the time it took for my dad to take off his belt!

Hands on discipline always has to be on the table to control kids.

Thought of getting your a$$ kicked when you got home goes miles.

It did for me!
