98 Gs Windsheild Wipers Stuck

I have a 98 Regal GS. The windsheild wipers work properly, except when you turn them off, the wiper blades stop in the verticle position on the windshield and won't go down into the "off" position. This just started a few days ago. Before this they worked fine. Any Idea's?

Wipers stuck

Easy fix but hard to explain.has a stop tab that gets bent used to happen to me a few times a year.Especially during winter in ice.No parts to buy.First time it happened went to local Buick garage and tech showed me how to fix it for free.

I'll look for the bent tab.
Do I look under the hood, or at the base of the windshield(cowl) . Will I need to remove any panels to access this tab or is it on the wiper arm?

I agree with buick tim have had it happen a couple times usually snow is involved

take off the dr side wiper arm and the screen mesh over the drivers side cowl and operate the wipers - better if someone else turns them on then off for you so you can see the tab that it just misses contacting , bend the tab until it contacts and they will park down at the cowl

hammer and long flat blade screwdriver are what i usually use for tools

I just got them working properly . And Yes. the tab under the dr. side cover was bent. Vicegrips, hammer & large flat blade screwdriver did the job.
