Hi All,
Just got back from Cecil and what a good time we had, great weather, great track and hanging out with good friends and people.
Without the help of Tommy X and Ed Baker I wouldn't have been able to run my car this weekend and run a new best ET, new best 60 foot and new best MPH.....here's the details.
Art Paltz and I head to Etown last Friday night in the hopes of me finishing my competition license runs....needing just the last two in the 9's to get it and for the past month I have had the most consistant 10.000000 bracket car out there.
So anyway on 2nd and 3rd runs last Friday night car pops bad off the line and I get out of it in like 1-2 seconds and put it on trailer as something isnt right.
Tuesday night Art stops by the Richs Auto technology center to do some last minute work on his aero package to get his car ready for Cecil, so as we finsih Arts car I decide to change oil so I am ready to go for Cecil.
Well take the plug out and water comes out instead of oil..........ughhhhh looks like we hurt a gasket of lifted head a bit.
It turns out the cause of the HG was the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator came off and when I hit the throttle at 28psi of boost with only 40psi of fuel pressure she got a little hot and either hurt the HG or lifted the head. So check all those vacuum lines kids........lol.
I get on phone and call my motor guy Dan Smith and the good man that he is meets me on turnpike to give me parts ie copper HGs on Wednesday night. I get back at 9pm and in 2 hours Tommy X and I pull motor out and onto stand so we can get at everything and clean her all up.
On Thursday on his day off Tommy X comes to my house and works all day in my garage breaking down heads and intake, cleaning everything up while I am at work so that when I get home we put her back together. During the day Thursday Ed Baker calls and I tell him my tale of woe and he volunteers to lend a hand and we all meet after I get home from work at 6:30pm at the Richs Auto technology center.
The three of us worked from 7-8pm all the way thru night putting the motor back together and fired up the car at 3AM literally, at that point Tommy left from pure exhaustion (Thanks Tommy can't tell you how much I appreciate it) and Ed and I change the oil 2 more times to flush out all the gunk in there and car was done at 4:15AM and loaded on the trailer. Ed and I clean up and head to get coffee as Artie Paltz was gonna be down at 6AM.
We drive to Cecil and first run off the trailer she goes 9.96.......as I said to Ed and Tommy as we worked thru the night..."something good has to come out of this weekend with us thrashing thru the night" and low and behold it did.
With the help of Tommy & Ed, I was able to be there, as well as complete my lic runs......THANK YOU guys I can't tell you how much I appreciate your efforts and friendship.
Thanks to all the crew who helped, Tommy, Ed, Artie working the tune while driving his car to 9.7's all weekend. It was just a real good time like I said with good freinds and laughs.
I appreciate it.
