Hey all, I'm new to the forum. I'm pretty sure I'm gunna be pickin up a 1984 Buick Regal T-type in blue. It's swapped with a 350 small-block and has alot mechanically done to it. However, it has no A/C or heat. Maybe I haven't appreciated both those much, but you think I'll be alright? Living in the Chicagoland area, we get pretty harsh winters and pretty hot summers. Do you have any alternatives? (golf-car heating system, cooling seat pads etc?)

- Should I even bother trying to get a new a/c or heating system in there?
-How much would it cost approx.?

The cars also in need of a paintjob. I was originally thinking black with some clean racing stripes, or just black gloss, to get that clean look.

I live near O'hare airport, if theres anyone else out there, it'd be cool to meet up!

First off, does the car still have it's HVAC system?

Or is the heater core just bypassed due to leaking and the a/c inop due to a leak in the system?

In other words, does this car still have the heater and a/c? Or is it another one of those "let's remove it all and put a cover plate over the big gaping hole in the fire wall" deals?

If you plan to drive the car in the winter and even in the summer, I'd definitely at least get the heat fixed. Trust me it sucks when your windshield keeps fogging up and you have to keep wiping it off with a towel....and also when you have to drive around with a coat in the winter and see your breath while doing so.

Been there done that.

The a/c that's up to you....some can live without it, some rely on 260 air to get them by, others hate it and have to have it.

Report back with your findings...and post pics if you can to help us to help you better.

BTW welcome.

I'm pretty sure everything is out.

I'm goin to check the car out tomorrow again, so ill get some more info.

So you mean as in all the HVAC was removed and a cover plate installed?

I have heard Summit sells little heaters for like $139. I've heard they're ok. They are for times when someone removed the heater for whatever reason.

They hook up to the stock heater lines and there's a built in fan and you have to wire it to a 3 speed switch to make it work.

yeah, thats somethin im prbly going to look into. however, you mention 260 air, not familiar with what that means...(windows open, breeze?)

Hey Mike, where is this car you were looking at? I'm interested in something just like that in North Prairie, WI. From the pictures it look black, but it's got a 350 SB and alot of new parts (brakes, shocks, etc.). Haven't looked at it yet, hopefully this week sometime.

Just wondering if it's the same car.
