Like most car people,I always wonder where my previous cars went to. I bought a 87 chevy monte carlo ss in 1994 and sold it in 1999. It was my pride and joy during that time and I also owned and still do a 87 T. Having both cars was great enjoyment. It came a time to sell the monte carlo as I was tired of the wife complaining why I had two cars. (I had a daily driver pickup) So I sold it to some young kid reluctanly. I wondered where it was until today. I get a certified letter from the pa. DMV stating my car was abandoned in a town about 2 hours from me. I called the towing or salvager and he stated the car was a mess no engine or trans. I assume my name came up as the car was sold to the kid new jersey. So I am heart broken the car is going to be scrapped and sent to china. It did run through my mind to go claim it but its probably junk. Has anybody gone through this. Lets hear some stories. Oh!I tell the wife and she says to me,your not going to bring it hear Lol. I have the 87 T and 87 gn now.My driveway is full but still wonder.

I had a red and wihte 76 Monte with the swivel captains chairs that was just a great ride, and a great big boat. ;) But I got in an accident with the GN and needed to money to repair it. I drove the Monte into work with my beautiful new paint job I had put on it, and a guy come into the shop I was working in and says.

"Who owns the Monte out front?"

I said "I do"

Him: "How much?"

Me : Well, it's not really for sale."

Him: "I said how much?"

Now, if I hadn't desperatley needed cash to fix my GN, I'd have blow the guy off.....

Me: "I'd probably wnat $1500 for it."

He pulls out his checkbook, starts writing and hands me a check....... "I'll pick it up tomorrow"

I had only paid $900 for the car, a STEAL, from a guy I worked with who's father was about 90 years old and had just passed away. It was his 90 year old dads car, who liked it becasue the seats helped him at his age getting in and out of the car. It was like brand new, other then dull paint, which I corrected. MINT interior. Nice running 305. No powerhouse but a GREAT cruiser.

Still bums me out. I see 76 Monte's from time to time, but I NEVER see one in as cherry condition as the one I had. And I basically gave it away.:(

Kinda like this...but nicer.......

Once I had a 75 Nova that some bitch ran into me and I couldn't fix it at the time so I sold it. Then later I bought a 78 Courier and drove it and then went to sell it, the guy that bought my Nova from the woman that bought it from me decided he wanted it, so I offered him a trade. Of course my old Nova was in worse shape than before so I re sold it again for $200 more than I originally sold it for.

A few months roll by, I get a phone call from an impound lot...turns out the guy that bought my Courier never titled it and abandoned it. But I had already signed off on the title so it wasn't mine to deal with...so the impound lot says "ok, there's nothing you need to do then, we'll take care of it" and that was the end of that. Meanwhile the new owner of my old Nova comes rolling into my work one day with the car....car is trashed....dead head stickers all over the dash, the ass clown cut off the new exhaust that was put on the car before I bought it, ripped out the fender wells....all I could do was shake my head in shame.

But yes I do wonder about where some of my former cars have turned up as.

I also sold my 1987 Monte SS a while ago because I wanted to concentrate on TRs, I do wonder from time to time were it is now..

I still search for the car I had in highschool from time to time. Never any luck though. I would buy the car back in a heart beat if i could find it. It was a Black 87 Mustang GT 5 speed with red tweed interior.

That's a nice looking Monte you had there Neil. Looks it even has a set of Dayton wire rims on it.

Yes sir, that is probably the car I most regret parting ways with. Not fast. Just nice. Loved the lines, loved the ride. And as I said, the one I had was mint inside and out. An exceptional original specimen. Most of the ones you see today, if any, are rags, or poorly redone. Maybe one day I'll find one in sweet conditition and drop an LC2 in it. :D
