What should the temperature of the Air be on a R134 converted TR? Mine is putting out about 80 degree air. Is that probably the best our 'old' cars can do? It is using the original compressor. Could it be low on the 134 and cause the air to be warmer than it should be? Thanks for any info.

Yeah its cycling, I'll check the freon tonight, with this heat wave we are having the car is about 140+ degrees when I get into it.

It should do a lot better than 80 degrees. In 100 degree temps it should get to at least the low 50's it either isn't charged or the compressor is weak

Sitting still, with around 95 degrees out, you should have upper 40's, lower 50's at the vent, while moving it should drop into the 30's. I got fed up waiting for a friend to charge my elky, bought a set of gauges/vacuum box off ebay, and a case of 134 from Sams Club. After realizing I had to replace the compressor and the the drier, I got it blowing 44 out the vent sitting still, and while moving when it was 95 out, it would blow 34! Something is wrong with yours. I'd try at least replacing the drier on it (they are around $30), new oriface tube (the elkys was NASTY) and vacuum the system for at least 30 minutes. Put in an oz. or 2 of oil and around 3 cans of R134 in it. I've been shooting for 30-35# of pressure on the low side in R12>R134 conversions...

He also needs to realize the Elky has a smaller cabin area to cool. I always said 40* was good enough. Sounds like you could "hang meat" in the Elky. Good job.

Yeah, that's true it has a smaller cabin, but I don't have any insulation or carpet on the floorpans yet as I'm chasing a water leak from the heaterbox onto the passenger floorboard everytime it rains or I wash it:mad: So it gets nice and toasty from the dual cats and mufflers.

(Maybe it's just crying that it doesn't have the "right" drivetrain in it;) )
