Just replaced my stock smoking smashed turbo with another stock, non smoking non smashed turbo. While I was at it I ported my elbow , installed a billet inlet bell and a ported and matched compressor housing, and ported the inlet to the IC. I also installed an adjustable wategate actuator. When I set it up on my bench I tried to match the arm length to the factory one. I must be a tad short as on my test drive I could see boost wanting to pass the 15psi mark that I have the chip at. I know I am knock free at 15psi in 3rd gear and I did not allow it to go past that mark.

My question is how do I adjust my wastegate actuator? Can I just turn the rod that goes into the diaphragm. Or do I have to undo that little clip and turn the end? Thank you in advance for the help.

Undo the clip that connects the waste-gate rod to the turbos flapper valve/arm.....then loosen the nut on the rod and lengthen to lower boost. or better yet...spend the 500.00 on an alky-control injection unit and shorten the rod and run 20 Lbs. and have some real fun....:)

Each full turn of the rod is approximately 1 lb of boost.

lengthen the rod to lower the boost.
pick up a manual boost controller from the parts section. worth the money.

Which manual controller should I get? I like Ric's but I am afraid since it uses a 16psi spring that I wont have any adjustment.

i like the hallman pro. i bought mine used from another member for $40. and it has worked flawlessly.

With that kit, does it allow you to run lower than 16 psi? I love RJC products, but without alky, I am afaid of having 16 psi be the lowest boost I can run. Thank you for the information.

yes, you still use the wastegate actuator. so you still have an adjustment with the rod if you need it.
ie. lengthen the rod, turn the mbc knob all the way in. now you will have max boost around 15 psi now start turning the knob counter clockwise and it will lower the boost even more. if I set mine up with very little tension in the actuator rod i can get as low as 10# of boost.
it's a combonation of the rod and the boost controller.
I have my rod as short as it will go and my mbc turned all the way in and my max psi is 23#. I need a heavy duty actuator so I can get more boost.
hope this makes sence. if not pm me and i will try to explain it better.

hello; here's something you might try as posted a little while ago. Disconnect the vac. line to the waste gate? to get a base boost and then play with the adjustment for more or less. I think that's how it went as I never heard that before. Maybe the poster would cum on and tell us the the real deal. But I'd like to see what the base boost would be with your stock combo. What chip do you have?

Makes perfect sense, thank you. Looks like that would be the controller for me. I will keep my eyes peeled for one. (Only 79 bucks on Amamzon.com though)

Your thinking of Tuner Style for base boost. Set the wastegate rod so its about 1/8th inch shorter than flapper & its at the lowest setting. Then run a vacuum hose direct from the wastegate to turbo. That will give you the lowest base boost.
Then shorten the rod to get your desired boost. If you need more boost add a T between them & use the bleeder to raise the boost as needed. The other option is to use an electric controller for more choices & better control but they cost much more.
