Adjusting top end shift points

Hi All,

I'm looking to see what's involved in moving my shift points up to 5800 or so. Is this simply a governor weight adjustment or is it more involved? Is there a way to tell how much to remove or is it trial and error?

I just did this last week. I also posted some questions and picks about it. It should give you an idea of what to do and expect. Very easy . my tranny shifted at about 5500 or so. I drilled a small hole with a 1/8 drill bit on the small weight. Deburred and reinstalled. Presto. 1-2 5750 rpm,2-3 5800,3-4 5800 rpm.

Actually, I'd saved your thread earlier, but wasn't sure how much "adjustment" was needed for "x" rpm shift points. I was hoping there was a formula or test method to predetermine *exactly* how much weight to remove. I believe your experience will be a big help.
