All I ask is to get a good starter!
I got stuck at the last minute before a race needing a starter. My old tbs.com starter of ten years finally took a dump on me a day before the bpg race. Go to AA to get a lt1 starter on my way home from work, eat dinner, go out to install the starter and the main batt. lug is cracked. WTF!! Have to wait until the morning to get another one (was supposed to leave at 6 am for the race but had to wait until 8 am for the store to open.) Had to drive to another AA 45 minutes away b/c the store I bought mine at was out of them. Arrive at the store and the only one they had was already installed before. No time to be picky, I had to use it to make the bpg race
That whole weekend I had to fight that new pos starter. It would not always engage the flywheel....had to move the crank pulley about a 1/4" sometimes for it to grab. What an pain in the ass it is to get out of the car to do that especially when you are in the staging lanes all buckled up in the 5 pt harness and window net up.
Fast forward to today. I go to return that starter (had a loose pinion gear). Had a hell of a time getting the dude behind the counter to take it back b/c when he put it on his machine, the motor spun. He couldn't understand that the gear was loose until I had him grab a new one and show him the difference. Anyways, I go to install the starter tonight and notice that the plastic around the batt. lug is cracked.....just like the first one. Since I have to meet some buddies down in Louisville tomorrow for a fun night at the track, I decided to try it anyways. No luck....the lug breaks completely off
I'm pissed!!
