I am starting a frame up restoration on my 87 GN, the car has only
64,000 miles but has seen some NY winters thanks to the previous owner. My question is should I do anything to the motor besides the obvious cleaning, hose replacement stuff. The engine and tranny are mint no problems with either, runs really strong.
Just would like to know if I should replace valve springs, sensors etc. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks all!

Well, if I were pulling the motor I'd change valve springs, valve cover gaskets, rear main seal, oil pan gasket, timing set and front cover seal, install a 160 F thermostat in a billet SS housing with a new o-ring, check the exhaust manifolds and crossover for cracks/leaks and repair if needed, change to new, larger injectors, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting, but I'm sure others will chime in...

:)

If the engine is coming out anyway, do the timing chain, oil pump screen, at least plastigage the rod and main journals, valve seals, have a good machine shop check the valve guides and seats, injectors and pressure regulator. the only sensors i would automatically replace are the coolant temp and 02.
