thanks in advance

Anthony

thanks for the help!! i talked to him and he said that he has the turbo dialed down to 4psi so he doesnt get in trouble. is it difficult to lengthen the wastegate actuator rod back to 5 1/4? am going to look at it tomorrow morning. thanks again!!

If the turbo actuator is adjustable, it is real easy. After seeing the car, post some more specific's here and we will all be happy to help.

Also, look for original RPO code's sticker in the trunk. There is a listing on the website I refrenced to tell you what all the codes mean. G80 is an important one... "POSI".

Smells odd??

He said: " that he has the turbo dialed down to 4psi so he doesnt get in trouble".

I'd be REAL careful on this one!!! Why would someone "dial it to near zero performance", if they are trying to sell it???

This car may have more problems than Mikey Jackson, and the presence of some reasonable boost shows these problems to be real....
IE:
Knocks under boost.
Trans slips under load.
Engine misses under load.
Turbo/engine smokes under boost.
Car is a mutt to begin with.

The list goes on and on.....IMO, He's setting you up for some BS excuses.

Where's the BS flag when you need it???:D :D

I would ask him to turn the boost back up to stock. I wouldn't do it myself. This guy could be a prick and say "YOU" turned up the boost and caused damage to the car.

As Chuck said, that's a little strange and deserves the BS flag. If I want to stay outta trouble, I don't push the pedal all the way down. Plus with boost levels that low, it may be affecting the performance of the car in a harmful way. Example: Try to go WOT (wide open throttle). The computer sees WOT and delivers the fuel it THINKS it needs to comensate for boost. No boost there and you end up with a pig rich condition! If this guy continued to drive around with a mere 4psi of boost, I'm sure this wasn't very healthy for the car. Imagine that... not enough boost being unhealthy! :)

Be careful.

THANKS GUYS!!! i will be looking at it today and will update you with actual condition.

Check to see how it runs cold. Sometimes people who sell cars like to 'warm' them up before the buyer arrives. Of course, oil leaks. A good test drive. Pics would be GREAT!

took it for a spin, made about 8/9psi, foot brake would only hold about 2/3psi, before the tires spin. corners of each door had bubbles under paint. minor nicks and scratches. blue top injectors, K&N, no radio. has Viper alarm. no rips or tears. digital dash works except for the MPH... odo and trip were working as i drove it about 10 miles. but no mph? how can i get that fixed? 15/16" of vacum at idle warm. smokes a bit on start up, claims it hasnt been started since Oct. quater size drip underneath ( oil ) nothing evident when i returned. said he would take my offer of $8500, left deposit. will get some pics soon...84,xxx miles

thanks again

Please don't take this wrong----but that is to much for that car.As stated above---there is a reason the car is only running 8/9 lbs of boost and it is NOT because the guy thinks he is going to get in trouble.

There seems to many little things with this car to warrant that kind of money.I have seen some very nice cars in the for-sale section of this board from $8-10K that don't have these issues and some actually have some nice mods(that will cost you a ton later.
Pics would be nice---still you are paying to much though:(

Who are the turbo guru's in Michigan? Maybe he can take the car for an inspection to someone's shop or have someone look at it?

This being your first TR, I would wade in very slowly.... and keep asking questions.

If this thread would have been in the great lakes section I would have looked at it sooner. I hope you didn't purchase yet I can go look at it with you, check turbo, and I have a list of what all codes are. I e-mailed you with my #

Get your deposit back. That car only sounds like trouble.

Pat, I'll go along with you and bring Mr. Turbolink for a 3rd opinion.

Anthony.... take someone with you to check out this car as it sounds a bit suspicious.

Sounds a little fishy to me too.

I am certainly not a guru, but I have seen a alot GN's and I have had a alot of GN's. I have driven many miles pulling a trailer only to turn around with my money still in my pocket. Every car has its value. Some more, some less. No two are equal.

I would be glad to go look at it too. For $8k you can get a better car than that. Its your money............spend it like its your last penny!
