Too bad they stopped making those 50,000 volt steering wheel tasers! If I could find one I would get one!

Yeah I think I remember seeing an ad for one of those in like '96 or '97, where you stuck your hand in the car and got shocked? I wonder why they quit making them?

I pulled my keys out poped the trunk and pulled out my trusty old AK-47:rolleyes: , he can call the cops if he wants but I doubt it will happen. Boy I have never seen someone crap them selfs in fear and drive off that fast:cool:

Ha-ha! I think I'll keep an old AK in my trunk. That was sweet, but you probably realized the close call here.

I have a iron shoe, enough wire on kill switches to wire the city of paris, a jackhammer in my trunk with anchors and a chain, two guard dogs, three snakes, a private body guard, security company. land mines, booby traps, new taser headrests and matching center console armrest not to mention a video surveillance system with satellite video watch connected and im paranoid as hell.....................when will it ever end????????

Thanks for the tips guys.

Has anyone here installed & use the Steadfast unit?

Looks like it's a somewhat permanent addition to the car. How difficult was the install & how visible is the unit once it is installed?

Any drawbacks or complaints about the device?

The Car-Guard collar was the device I was thinking of.

There appears to be several locking options to choose from. Can anyone explain which one is better & why?

Anyone have a LoJack System? I am familiar with the basics on this product. I would like to know what type of costs are associated with this system.

Then there is the Kirban "Mystery" Theft Deterrent System. I think I know what this might consist of. Anybody care to comment on this product?

I realize that this is a topic that most owners are usually pretty tight lipped about. Please feel free to send me a PM if you'd rather not post information in public. I assure you any replies will be kept strictly confidential.

Thank you.

Some good info. from one of the many threads on this subject.

The Steadfast works great, takes an hour or so to install, probably scratches the plastic underneath it, can be painted gray to be less inconspicuous.

I like the stock color.

I have a column lock with a sobo bump proof padlock on it. The locks that are provided with most of those, I can have off in less than 5 seconds, and I'm not lying. Brake pedal locks and clubs I can also have off in less than 5 seconds. Standard issue alarm systems me and my brother can bypass, including the alert horn in less than 10. I can also defeat any gps system as well. Don't ask me how, because I won't tell you.

Hidden kill switches along with the column lock is the way to go, to slow down a theif. A flatbed will have your car in minutes. The best way, is to get a super sensitive alarm, with the alert horn hidden, or locked in it's own box with the wire hidden, and have a buddy block your car in when you park. If that's possible. Most of the time though, when you leave your car unattended outside, they're going to get it.

Hey Salvage I like that Steadfast column guard you have, that's probably what I'll get if I can find someone who sells them.

But if I may ask what's with the three screws on the tumbler?

they just hold in place.
even if you remove those screws they still wouldn't be able to anything with it.

Just do what I do. Every time after I drive the car, I put it up on 4 jackstands and take the wheels inside the house and keep them by my bed next to my shotgun!

No really, the best thing to do is to not worry about it. Even a perfect low mileage GN can be had for less than the price of a brand new Honda Accord.

A new GN cost about $18,500 in 1987 dollars, and adjusted for inflation that would be about $35,500 dollars today. All the people that have stored their low mileage GN's instead of driving them are losing money on the sale. These cars are not a good investment by a long shot.

Just insure the car with an agreed value policy. I use Hagerty Insurance. They do not have many of the silly driving restrictions of the other insurance companies. For about $400 dollars a year, I have my care insured for $20,000. I really don't care if the car gets stolen. I just hope that I don't get it back!

The moral of this story is...enjoy driving your car, insure it properly, and don't worry about it.

Yeah one better hope Hagerty pays up. I'm starting to hear Grundy is the better one.

another use for the trunk monkey
