In the intrest of saving $$$, and due to the fact that there is no performance to be gained by going to aftermarket headers. I will be getting mine welded then ceramic coated for about half of what new ones would cost. I would like to know about crossover pipes. Is there any gain in going to and aftermarket piece? Or is it the same story as the factory headers?

The only performance gains seen are when you replace a crushed factory crossover pipe with a new pipe.

I've got the ATR crossover on mine. I dont think there is a power gain there but with the larger diameter it helps a little on the spool-up. Also it sets a little lower than the stocker and I ended up making it D-shaped on the first speed bump I drove over.

ATR Stainless steel crossover pipe...

I have an ATR stainless steel crossover pipe on my car and the only advantage to it, is that it'll last forever...and looks great polished too!...:D....'bye!

Claude :)

I can pretty much say don't do it. I just finished a "no boost" "rough idle" CROSSOVER leak courtesy of ATR. These are a crap fit and leak with a little vibration. Save yourself the headache. Mine is for sale :D

It's a shame. If ATR combined its' heavier gage design with funnel type clamps like stock, it would be the replacement of choice. Bowling Green Customs (BGC) had a 304SS version that was an excellent near stock replacement but they have disappeared. Hopefully someone else is offering this design.

Regarding Sleeper-6's original question, no real advantage in replacing stock crossover unless it is damaged.

Just one word of caution about the stock headers, they may not have much life left in them. With enough miles, they tend to become crack prone.

Good luck,
Richard

hhmm i never had a problem with mine works and looks great . the leak could be caused from installation what i mean is the pattern in which the bolts were tightend could cause a leak if not tightend down evenly .
