Aftermarket Trans Cooler- Is Series Bad???

Would the preferred set up be to series an aftermarket trans cooler with the stock cooler or just use the aftermarket as a stand alone. I’ve just finished an engine freshen up that had a thrust bearing failure and I never really determined the cause. I was thinking that maybe I’m having excessive line pressure form having the two coolers series prior. Where should return line psi be and is this a possible restriction?
Stock original trans w/ Bruce's shift kit and a 9" billet AC, Any Opinions???

You are doing it right.

Series is the way to go. As far as pressure, you never want to see any more than 40-50 pounds in the cooler line. There was a formula where it was figured with frontal pressure force, maybe Chris will chime in here, and as long as , I think we determined under 65, was never going to hurt anything. Not that you want to run that high as most of ours average about 30 or so and maybe 40 under high tv and high rpm, so that is about all the explaination I can give. Thanks Bruce. I'm going to check my numbers to see where their at. I can't remember where but I thought I'd seen that a series configuration in coolers doubles the pressure.

It should not..

effect pressure at all. Pressure should remain the same no matter how many coolers you have in line. Sounds like a myth to me. :biggrin:
