My question is are air lift bags reaaaaaallly needed? I have a street car primarily and will probably see very little time at the strip. It does have a pegleg which irritates me a bit. But I don't see a great deal of people using the air bags? Did I miss something? I got the pinion snubber as well, and will probably be ordering the bmr lca's and the atr rear sway bar? Is this overkill? I just want the car to be as comfortable on the street and improve a bit of traction. Also the pst suspension rebuild kits? Which one should I get?
Any help and thanks in advance.

I would do air bags before ever buying a pinion snubber again. Waste of money. The airbags will help at the track when u do go.

Good Luck

Another air bag question...

I was thinking about putting airbags in my car, but I had a question.

What do you do with them when you are just driving around on the street?? I'm sure some people just leave it the same for street racing applications, but I was wondering if you can have them inflated equally to improve handling or just have them deflated?

Also, about how long does the install take??

Thanks.

I use one bag on the pass side on street 7 psi at the track 15 psi
I only use 7 for street because of street tires and i stay in race mode. If traveling 0 psi. Airbags will give a rough ride which i don't like.

I think the best place you should start is with a posi carrier. I'm only using an airbag so that my slicks don't tear up the quarter panel.

TTT... Can anybody tell me how they have their airbags set up on the street?

Also, a good website for a clean smart install.

Set up for what, street or race?

On my 87 (which never sees the track anymore, or much else for that matter), I have both bags at around 7-8psi just to keep the car level and looking nice.

On my 87, they're the same, except at the track the right side gets 10, and the left gets 5.

Take the advice of someone who ran one for quite a number of years. If you have a pinion snubber (aftermarket) rip it out, if not, don't bother buying one. They work great on leaf sprung cars but not on 4 links like ours

You said on your 87, then on your 87... wasn't sure if you meant 86, for one and 87 for the other. :D

I was more referring to helping the car's handling and stance, not for street racing/ launching. I will change the pressures when I get to the track, but my car is a daily driver and doesn't see much strip time.

Thanks for the advice on the snubber. I never had one in my car and really didn't have plans of trying that. The stock one is still OK though, right?

Sorry, the 86 is the one that sees the track duties. The only reason I put the bags in the 87 was to re-level the stance. The rear springs were getting saggy.

Crap

I read this post and ran out to the garage to see if I kept my old snubber. Whew. There in my buick box with the rest of my buick crap. So when did it become official that this pos doesn't work after all the experts advised us to install it. Thats what I get for following the crowd.
