What is the recommendation for the type of nozzles to be used on building a home made alchy system? Still gathering and sorting out parts but will be using the Shurflo pump as been suggested by quite a few people.
What are the hot type of nozzle(s) being used with a stock turbo and 36# injectors?
I'm getting there. Thanks

paul

The following is a repeat of a previous post.----
When I was researching my system, I narrowed it down to four possible nozzles- NOS, Aquamist, oil burner type, or misting nozzles(like used in produce dept to keep veg fresh). I chose oil burner type which I modified by putting 1/8 pipe thread on the nose. ---
I suggest you read everything that has ever been posted in this area from the begining. I did and gained a wealth of knowledge. Just about every component in a DIY system has been throughly disscused at one time or another.

R-R, I have been slowly but questions always come up along the way.
So where does one buy the oil burner type nozzles and how are they sized? I am just looking at all possibilities. Thanks

I have a stock turbo and blue tops and have NOS nozzles. I am currently running 21psi boost and a .036 jet, on 22 degrees timing. I am getting zero top end knock, just a couple degrees on the shifts I am looking into. Turn on point is 15psi

I went the Aquamist route. Downside is the brittle plastic lines that need to be changed yearly. (no big deal)

Upside is ease of adding small jets, just by teeing off. You will find 3-4 1 mm nozzles about right. Good atomization also.

A google search 'Brad, Aquamist Kansas City' will get you there...

If you are going 2 stage, I don't know if you want to use their solenoid. Mine is still functioning, but not sure how the brass inside will hold up to the alchy.

Aquamist believes in water only systems. A liability issue they wish to avoid due to the use of plastic lines in their system.

I use very similar timing, and turn on points as Blackbuick87. Boost is different due to alum. heads I'm using. About 4 psi lower now.

SUREFLO PUMP IS ON SALE RIGHT NOW FOR $55. I'VE ONLY USED THE NOS NOZZLE AND JET DESCRIBED IN STEVE MONROE'S DIY INSTRUCTIONS. IF YOU'RE BUILDING YOUR INITIAL SYSTEM, WHY GO CRAZY? THE NOZZLE PARTS ARE EASY TO COME BY AT MOST SPEED SHOPS OR OUT OF THE SUMMIT CATALOG. I HAVE RUN 12.50s ON REAL STREET TIRES AND PUMP GAS WITH 24#s OF BOOST AND NO KNOCK.

Great help!!!

Guys using the NOS nozzles (no offense to the others): is it the "fan spray body" type with screw in jets that I would use?
Do they stay in place without rotating using the new threaded hole in the up-pipe or do they get locked with a nut?
Thanks to all for the input.

paul :) :)

The jets dont screw in, they just "fit" into the nozzle screwed into the up pipe. Then the braided line screws onto the nozzle holding it in place.

This site shows the nozzles and jets

This site has braided line, tanks (if you dont want to use the o/f bowl like I did) and a different type of nozzle (brass, much more durable than aluminum). Joe has switched similar to what Jay Carter likes, and they are actually $15 cheaper than the NOS switch I have

I'm using Mcmaster spray nozzles, comes in an array of sizes with no problems. THey produce quite a nice atomization at pressures above 60psi. BTW Im running my Shurflo the $49 one without the 60-40 pressure switch deadheaded out against my small nozzles(2gph,7gph) seeing over 100psi. I bought the 7 dollar warranty from northern so if the pump goes south before the year it is fixed .

sstock, which shurflow pump is that, I see Northern has one for 44.00 and another for 54.00? See this from Northern rep:

"Item 2687 is model 8000-543-236 and item 342811 is model 8000-541-236. Item 2687 is 1.4 GPM @ 60 PSI and item 342811 is 1 GPM @ 60 PSI"

Thanks

paul

Same one I'm using. You can't possibly need to pump more than 1 gpm.
