Alcy specif. chip needed with Translator Gen II?

If I have a MAF translator gen 2 and can increase timing as much as I want for specific RPM ranges, do I still need an 'alky chip' to fully take advantage of running alcohol?

I've read the very nice and detailed thread about tuning for alcy with a translator/extreme chip setup, but from a performance perspective how do the extremes compare with running a TT alcohol specific chip? (or is it not even noticable enough for me to tell?)

Thanks in advance for helping me sort this all out so I can hurry up and get my car drunk on the good stuff
