ok,i'm getting ready to bring the buick back to the track for the last time of the year...and i want to make it count and realized with all the wrenching i've been doing on the t i have not bothered to get an alignment yet..my question is should i set it to a different setting other than oem?i don't drive it much on the street and i'm looking for the best option to help better my et and figured it would not hurt to ask..i know on my fwd nissan we set it a few degrees out.....thanks for your help.....

Stock settings are good for street driving as far as toe goes, but the camber should be about -.1 to -.2 and the caster shoud have a .4 to .6 seperation from left to right with the higher on the right side. Hope this helps.

My car wa squirrly at 130 and above. We checked alignment as follows:
1.Me in the car, and at race wt.
2.W/ rear tires I use at the track. [28x10.5 slicks]
3.Checked align, and printed it out.
4. Raised the ft 1"..repeated #3.
5. Raised it another 1".. " ".

Found caster going bonkers at elevated positions.[We had video of the car in the traps, indicating ft end was still up some]
Set toe for 1/16", and max caster. Car drove like it was on rails...

If you're street driving the high caster # may give you excessive tire wear on the outside edges of the tire due to the angles your tires in a corner. The older Impalla SS had this issue. If you use the lower end of the Impalla alignment specs you should be ok, just make sure you have a good alignment guy that knows what he's doing.

Front
6*-7* : positive caster
0* : camber (wheel will be straight up)
1/16" : toe in

Most alignments shops/place suck balls. They only want to do toe in/out. You tell them to change caster/camber, they cringle. Caster/camber is involved but they are getting paid for it and don't want to do it.
