It was a 2011 or 2012, hardly had any miles on it (He was a super cool guy)... If we only raced 1/4 mile distance I had him covered... But we were doing about a 3/4 mile or so.. He went by me shortly after it shifted to 4th
Don't know what speed I hit... Whatever the car is doing at 5000 rpm with the converter locked in 4th gear. I should have left GPS in car so I would have speed reading... Will do next time..
I did a really kick butt run one time locking the converter around 4500 rpm in 3rd which was perfect and followed thru to about 4800 rpm in 4th gear, was a great run, but had camera set on picture mode not video. DOH DOH DOH....
Per Joe Lubrandt calculator with convertor slippage of 3%, your calculated speed in 4th gear would be 168 MPH if you were running 26" tires and 181 MPH with 28".
NO WAY the CTS would have gotten past you with either set of tires or that you would have stayed on the ground with 28's.
You need to look at your PL runs; they will tell you how fast you were going.
Wow, don't think I was going that fast, my Guess was 120 - 130 ish... Wasn't data logging or anything.. No way to know...
I try to log everything I can. Really need to see what you car was doing when it is under max power.
Sounds like fun but like I said earlier, I think mine would probably go airborne if I stayed on it very long after the 1/4 mile mark.
I'm going to Mario Andretti's driving experience at Texas Motorway Speedway at the end of this month to drive NASCAR monsters. Anxious to see how I like that. "Bucket list" item.

Buddy of mine did something like this a few years back. The one he went to was a driving school in Arizona and they had them driving prepped C5 Vettes. Then they put them in those lieel shifter carts that do like 110mph and let them rip around the same track. He said the shifter carts were faster around the track than the Vette's!
The only problem with the shifter carts is they are paddle shifts...he said it took some practice to remember that the left peddle is not a clutch peddle...it's the brakes. More than a few of the students would forget and that smash the brake peddle like it was the clutch going into a turn and completely face plant into the steering wheel and spin out.

Last Christmas, my daughter in law got coupons for the Andretti Racing Experience for Christmas for my son and I. He used his coupon last sping and drove NASCAR vehicles. Ran 15 laps behind a pace car and then rode with a current NASCAR driver with a current car. Said it was unbelievable how fast it felt when they were close to the wall. I thought I would get the same in Fort Worth but it looks like I'll be driving open wheel Indy cars with top speed of 160 or so. Looking forward to that.
Set up a race with an F430. Asked the starter to let me heat them up for 2 seconds. Then I would come to the line, hold for 2 then go. As soon as I lifted off of the throttle (You will hear blow off valve) he said GO! Race was a bust but looks good anyway!

that turbo is making some noise man. I love it!!
VIN 7 cars were "not recommended for towing" which is high load/long time frame. At WOT, you are in power enrichment which is constantly washing oil off the walls as compared to shorter blasts where the oil film can reestablish. Translates to engine wear. I know the purpose of race fuel is to not grenade by detonation, but the flame event lasts longer and can enter into into the exhaust cycle which is really a hard environment for exhaust valves to survive in. You'll probably beat a lot of those cars at lower boost anyway. Turning and stopping would also be high on my list as would speed rated tires.

(because this thread is OLD)Vids and sound would be awesome. Bring some bright orange or green duct tape and mark off 1/4 and 1/2 mile marks for some reference.
