Can you put an alky kit on a supercharged car... My dad has an 01' lightning. What performance gains can be expected. The truck is stock now, but in order to run a 6lb lower pulley all the time without it hurting anything due to knock, would the alky kit come into play here, with a good chip of course? That is, if it is even possible to put alky on a supercharged car? If not, what mods would be good to start off with? Sorry for all the lightning questions, i just thought I'd help out my dad since he is the one that invested in the GN to make it as fast as it is. Thanks

Check with Yellow 95 (posts here every now and then)... he says he is getting good results on his blown 'Stang. The theory remains the same: compressed air is heated air, and the alky/water removes some of that heat, so it should work!

I have seen it on a GTP. I am not familiar with the lightning manifold, you may have to drill and tap into it. Other than that the install is about the same

Thanks alot for the reply's...So would the alky kit make a difference even if i don't change the pulleys to bring up boost? Or is it only worth it if i wanna run high boost on the street. I'm trying to decide if this would be the next step after the chip and pulley. Many people don't run high pound pulleys on the street because of detonation, so I was thinking if alky reduces knock then I can saftly run high boost. I havent seen alky on a lightning though, thats why im skeptical about it.

Alcohol does not add hp, it allows you to run more boost safely. So dont bother with it unless you are going to increase timing or boost. If you are not getting knock now it will not help

I'm mounting a SMC kit on a supercharged Dakota if that means anything. No reason it couldn't be equally effective on a blown app just as it is on a turbo setup. Still the same concerns with detonation and pre-ignition and water/alk can help in both of those.

I just got done with replacing a set of head gaskets(2nd set in 4 months) and told myself that would be the last set for awhile. Between the SMC and a J&S Safeguard I'm hoping to have enough safety net to tune aggressively and not have to peel the heads off again anytime soon should I overshoot :-)

I have seen an actual increase in boost from running straight water. I am in FL, in 90+ weather, so the cooling effect has actually increased my boost level. I have not been able to increase timing yet, as I am not sure how much water I need.

Yes , removing heat is it, and it is known as latent heat of vaporization. This is also why air conditioning works.;)
