I put a Powerdyne supercharger on my new Dodge 4wd Ram. Made a big difference. I use this truck to pull my car trailer. It has no intercooler so I thought to put the SMC alky kit on it. I ordered it but looks like it will be several weeks before it gets here. Does anyone have any experience with this application? or know where to look?

It will work. I just did a search (top of page) using 'supercharger' as the search term. 18 posts there. Specify althy tech as the forum..

I recently installed a SMC kit on my Paxton supercharged Dakota R/T. First time to the track on Sunday, so I'm early in the tuning phase. I definitely see the advantages to using the WI in this type of app. I was really trying to push too small an injector, but between the WI and a J&S knock retard system I also have onboard, I think the Dodge has some real tuning potential. Just need to rework the PCM to handle some 36# injectors, then back to the track for some more tweaking. 13.3@108 was my best pass of the day for a stock bottom end 4400 lb truck. Not totally disappointed in those numbers, but I think a mid to low 12 is in this thing before I'm done.

For those that don't know, the Chrysler camp is severely hindered by the lack of aftermarket tuning tools and no factory knock sensor, so when we go to trying forced induction, we are starting from a disadvantage. Combine that with a "weak" 10 head bolt arrangement and we have a motor that is prone to spitting head gaskets.

Is "WI" water injection? Tell me more about the J&S knock retard.
I assume you have a 360 in the Dakota. Any other mods?

Yes, was referring to water injection(WI), but actually it's a 50/50 water/denatured mix that I currently run. Too early in the tune to say that is the optimal for my app and this is a 360 that I'm working with.

The J&S Safeguard is an aftermarket knock detector/retard system. I bough the V1 universal model which also has boost retard capabilities. Short of the multi spark, this box could take the place of an MSD ingition. I still use the MSD, but the J&S now triggers it up front.

The truck has quite a few other mods that I'll list in the sig. You can find more info on the J&S at the link below and feel free to post up any additional questions you might have.
