Friend of mine is doing up an Oldsmobile with a procharger on it and was talking about how expensive it would be to run race fuel all the time with it. We got to talking about running an alky kit with it similar to the typical GN setups. Is it possible? I've never ridden in a procharged car but I assume the boost comes on rather slowly and it would need a progressive pump controller to prevent bog. Also don't know what it runs down the highway if it's under boost or not, but doubt that's a problem. Probably going to run 20 psi with this thing, blowing through a carb. Would the alky affect the carb, or would he have to use a nitrous style plate under the carb to make it work? It shouldn't need the alky on until 10 psi or so. Any thing else going to be a problem?

I hope he's spent money on a good blow through carb. Nozzle goes like any SC application in the pipe leading to the hat.

20 PSI is where I see the limit on non-IC with alky. Not a problem making it work. Altho running boost through a carb at 20 PSI is a metering problem.

He's getting a custom carb for it. Also it IS intercooled, he just wants to run really high boost on pump gas. Could he use a single nozzle, non-progressive kit, like a DIY project? Money really is a factor here, but even the most expensive kit will save him money in the long run. Do you or any others make one specifically for a SC or is it all the same anyway? Thanks for the help.

Some year you will sell me a kit for my GN. Just need to sort the rest of the car out first.

He can do a DIY kit, he can call one of the companies that make systems and see what they have to offer, man the sky is the limit.

But one part of your reply "Money really is a factor here" .. and wants to run really high boost safely. Sounds like he's got a lot of money in the blower/ic/carb setup. I've been there and got the killed 5 motors shirt.

My advice, tell him not to scimp on the system.
