Considering that I was fairly reluctant to spend the money for their kit and basically hesitated to buy it since last summer, I feel I owe it to the company and to others on the forums to give a report of my experience.
Shipping was fast. They don't lie about taking care with each part of the kit, I forget the exact date, but the back of my alcohol pump was engraved with an inspection date only a few days old. From the moment you open the box and see something like that, you know it's no joke. You just got a quality product.
The instructions that come with the kit are great. Pictures give you an insight to certain parts of the process. Not just 10 pages of text that leave you guessing about what it's referring to half the time. I could invision how most of the kit was installed before I even opened the hood of my car.
Installation is a breeze. It's like a puzzle with numbered pieces, literally a no-brainer. I found myself about halfway through the install without even checking the instructions, there's a natural progression to the install process, even someone with limited experience like me knew what to do next.
As others have said in the past, this kit is stealth. Except for a few obvious things like the hose running to the up-pipe, nobody is going to know. (Especially if you replace the "ALKYCONTROL" reservoir cap with the factory "COOLANT" cap).
It started to look like rain while I was out on the driveway so I stopped after bringing the wiring through the firewall, so basically all the underhood stuff is done, I just have to wire the PAC and the dash lights. I'm sure I'll only have more praise to give when the rest is done and I start turning up the boost.
Hopefully someone else who's "on the fence" about spending the money will read this and become another customer.
As time goes by it only becomes more of an oddity to find a company that pours their heart into their product and is active with their customer service. I remember back last summer I had a question about how the relocation of the overflow tank worked, and they emailed me a copy of the instructions so I could read through them. Service like that is pretty rare.
In a nutshell, I've gone from thinking "geez, $500 for this thing?" to feeling like I stole it from them. The parts in the box may add up to $500 but you can't put a price on the quality and service that comes along with it.
So, a big THANKS to everyone at AlkyControl. So many times I buy something that ends up not working, is poor quality, has no customer support behind it, and that's what makes me scared to spend money sometimes, disappointment sucks. But I'm glad to say this experience has restored my faith that there are still good people out there doing good work.
