I just wanted to post a review of the dual Spal fan setup from Peter at Alradco. I was running a Lincoln Mark 8 fan using one of his aluminum radiators with pretty good luck (95* outside the with the AC it would run 195-200 max. The Lincoln fan was rated at 4500 cfm but did not cover the entire radiator. A few weeks ago the Lincoln fan crapped out so I decided to purchase his "extreme" set of Spal fans that are roughly rated at 2800 cfm. I was a bit apprehensive at going with fans rated at less cfm. I got the black powder coated shroud and man was it nice. It installed and fit as well as it looked. I wired the A and B together so that both fans would be triggered to come on when the low relay is engaged. I took it for a drive without using the AC initially and I couldn't get it to break 167-168 unless I did an extended WOT pull. but the fans would quickly pull it back down. The real test was with the AC on. I took side streets knowing I would hit a lot of lights and have to idle around quite a bit. It was still 92-93 outside and the car never saw above 178 :) I pulled into the driveway and let it idle with the AC blowing cold for a few minutes and the fans managed to bring it down to 174 before I shut it off. I could not be happier with how these turned out. They look and work fantastic. BTW I am running a pretty thick FMIC.

Nice 20 degree drop in temps. Glad you're happy and thank you for your business. Your ET and MPH is almost identical to my GN. :)

I sure wish I will hit 130 come this Fall :) But yea its working great. I drove it to work today and sat in line at Chic Fila at lunch in 91-92* heat for 10-15 mins and it hovered around 178-179 with the AC blowing! It would have easily been near 200 and starting to worry me with the old setup. Less amperage draw is a nice little bonus as well. Thanks again!

Does the dual fans work well with a stock radiator or is a radiator upgrade needed as well

That's awesome!
I don't think you'll have a hard time hitting 130.

Works with stock radiator as well as several others. Pics and more info can be seen here http://turbobuick.com/forums/threads/dual-fan-kit-alradco.386673/

Those SPAL fans are the sh!&t. I had said that years ago. There is nothing like them. And with his shroud it makes it even better. I wouldn't even dream about putting in a Dodge or F@rd fan :p

So if i could go with either a radiator or the dual fans which would be best for keeping temps down. I see 200 without the AC on during 90 degree days

Great review, haha. Thanks. :D

If you still have the original radiator, I would start there. Do the thermostat while you're at it too if it's old.

Yea i got a 160 tstat that i need to install and i have the original radiator...i guess i will be in the market soon for a new radiator

Can any of you guys show me how you mounted the fans? I tried to mount them using the 4 holes on the radiator, but the radiator hold down plate is hitting the bolts. So far I am a little dissapointed in fitment, but perhaps someone can throw me a suggestion?

You don't use the bolts at all. The entire shroud fits right up next to the radiator. The radiator support bracket and the 2 bolts holding the AC lines and the clamps will secure it properly.

Set the bottom of the shroud INSIDE the bottom radiator support and if you notice the shroud completely covers the fins of the radiator from end tank to end tank. Sounds crazy but it works.

I will have some pictures of my install but it wont be for a couple of days. Let me know if you need anything else.

Pics would help. I've seen a few, but just not seeing how you guys are doing it. I actually had attached speed nuts where the holes in the radiator are and it works well, only until I try to get the radiator top plate on. :(

Thanks for the link but that didn't really answer my question. So you didn't use any bolts on the bottom?

No bottom bolts here... i just made sure the shroud was inserted into the radiator support. Then the top plate holds it in place.

Guess im gonna hve to try another solution. I run a cutlass hold down and don't have the two tabs
