Rooting for Sid but overall I think the Wings are just a little better. I am hoping for a good 7 game entertaining series.

That's my 2 cents.

This will be my first Hockey Game ever watched, not much ice here in rural Kansas:D

I guess I will cheer for the Crosby Kid (spelling) or the Red Wings, I have heard of them before:wink:

BTW-- Welcome Back in the Country Mr. Rezes:biggrin:

Yeah that Crosby kid is unreal, Its gonna be a good showdown.

After watching Dallas whoop on the sharks who were the favorite then we come in 3 game stomp, drop 1 in Dallas then got flat out played in Detroit only to go back to Dallas and put the hard smakdown.

I didnt think Philly had all that much going into their series, They played hard but just couldnt fool the net minder, will be different story comming into the Joe on our ice.

I can hear the chant starting now......HERE WE GO PENGUINS HERE WE GO!!! It is going to be a killer run for the cup and i am soooo glad we get to against the best record in the red wings!! LETS GO PENS:cool:

The Wings defence will get exposed and Pittsburg will have the advantage in speed. Slight goaltending edge and playoff experience to Detroit. Pitt in 6.

>>> No problem brother we will hook up another time for an ice cream or a beer.

Stay well.

Not a Detroit fan, but the Wings have the edge in most important categories overall. Experience, depth, defense, and overall talent. Yes, the Pens have Sid, Malkin, and more speed, but let's see how they skate when they are playing in the Joe with Western Conference ref's. Totally different officiating, the West lets em play. The Eastern Conference refs suck!!! Goaltending is about even, Wings in 5.... :D

I don't like Detroit either,

I hope the Pens win

I think Marc andre flurry is the weak link, if detroit gets at him early he will go nuts again (Watching replays and pacing between periods) his game was horrible when Philly got at him.

I disagree with the Depth comment, Pens have lots of depth, the 4th line scored a huge goal in the Philly series.

I think this could go 7 games, and I hope the pens win.

Heres the rundown

The Stanley Cup Final has been set in stone. The Detroit Red Wings will face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins for the almighty holy grail of hockey. These two teams haven’t met each other since the 2006 season, but Detroit has won the last two meetings. The Detroit Red Wings are -165 moneyline favorites to win the Stanley Cup over the Pittsburgh Penguins +135.

The Red Wings are no strangers to the Cup. Their last Cup Final appearance was in 2002, which they won 4-1 over the Carolina Hurricanes. Their current roster has nine players with Cup rings, Darren McCarty (3) , Kirk Maltby (3), Kris Draper (3), Tomas Holmstrom (3), Nicklas Lidstrom (3), Chris Chelios (2), Chris Osgood (2), Brian Rafalski (2), Dominik Hasek and Pavel Datsyuk. The Red Wings went 12-4 SU throughout the first three series of the playoffs, they went 7-1 SU at home and 5-3 SU on the road. Two of their losses were due to goalie Dominik Haseks poor performance. Since Chris Osgood took over they’ve gone 10-2 SU. Overall Osgood is 10-2 with a 1.60 GAA with one shutout after allowing 20 goals. The Wings are no strangers to offense, they have a lethal one-two punch in Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg while defenceman Brian Rafalski set career highs in goals and points. On defense they are, and have been, the best there is. Lidstrom, Rafalski, Brad Stuart, veteran Chris Chelios and Kronwall have been particularly impressive, throwing big hits when it counts and bringing toughness. They can shut down any offense. They also led the league in blocked shots.

The Penguins are back in the Cup Final since they last won it in 1992, when they beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0. Their current roster has three players with Cup rings, Petr Sykora, Gary Roberts and Darryl Sydor (2). The Penguins went 11-4 SU throughout the first three series of the playoffs, they went 7-1 SU at home and 4-2 SU on the road. Part of their success has been the superb performance of Marc-Andre Fleury who is 11-2 with a 1.70 GAA with three shutouts after allowing 24 goals. On offense Sid the Kid hasn’t been the Gretzky or Lemieux that everyone expected him to be, but he is still playing hard and assisting his teammates. Instead they have multiple players who are contributing. Malkin, Staal, Hossa and Sykora have all answered the call. Pascal Dupuis has been a great addition with his two-way play, and their defense has done a great job lowering the scoring chances and keeping things simple for Marc-Andre Fleury.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Detroit Red Wings
When: Sat, May 24, 2008 8:00 PM ET
Line: BetUS.com
Pick: Detroit -165

The Bottom Line: This Cup Final has been tagged as one of the best since the 1992 Final between NY Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks. Expect a fast paced game with spectacular goals and unbelievable saves. But the Red Wings are the favs and they should walk away with their sixth Cup in 13 years.

Go Pens!! I'm actually going to be in Detroit for game 1 Sat night!

Detroit will probably win the series easily. They do have a much better team. I would like to see the Pens steal it from them. I'm an Avalanche fan so I can't root for the Wings.

Thats something Ive never understood, I happen to live in Mich but when the Wings got beat out by the Flames... I rooted for the Flames.
I choose my conference unless a Canadian team is in....and most here in Mich, even ardent Wings fans respect what the Aves did all them yrs ago, moving then putting together a winning team, Although I never liked Wahwah and his arrogance, Hes a hall of famer period. and when the Aves went to the cup, I rooted for them and most that I know did as well despite the crap that was started with the wings suck thing from that radio station.
Ive been to games in a few citys and find it childish with the wings suck chants, when you come to the Joe dressed in your Aves jersey, you dont get ridiculed and with the exception of the Goalie chants and the general boo's you never hear any disrepect of the other teams or the other fans sitting in the seats, I dont get all wrapped up in hating this team or that team, I would like to see Nashville get it together although the fans at the games are clueless with some of the calls or lack of.

The cap is in place so the payrolls are all level and theres nothing better to see an 8th seeded team go all the way and yet We have had our share of seeing this team kick butt all yr only to flop in the first round.

Yeah I want my team to win but if the Gwins pulled it off then my hats off to them and they would deserve it, I wouldnt go and burn my jersey.

Anyway its only one game and theres alot of hockey left to be played and the Gwins didnt get here by luck

Best of luck to both teams but Go Wings!
