I just bought a gn last April and I about to change the alternator for the second time since owning it, the previous owner had in stalled a reds volt booster which I think is burning the alternators out. My question is how do I wire a new alt plug. Do I use all 4 or 2, one goin to battery and one goin to Alternator a warning light? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hot wire out of the alternator goes to the post with the nut. Wire with the GM weatherpack connector goes back to the volt light in the dash. That is the exciter wire which allows the alternator to charge the battery. The resistance of the 194 idiot lamp is what the alternator looks for in order to charge. There are self exciting, one wire alternators out there.
