RMI has not been in production for about a year. A new plant is under construction and should be operational in a couple months.

I have a very limited supply which is why I had it removed from my web site. We are working on a new page just for cooling products and tech info.

The recommended use of RMI is 8 oz. to 5 gallons of water or AF. Usually filtered water is used, but I have seen no problems with tap water.

Since RMI is the only additive I know that will clean the system while you drive and keeps the crud in suspension, it will need to be changed periodically depending on the condition of the cooling system.

Only need 8 oz. of RMI to treat a 5 gallon system, the GN is 4 gallons.

Since my complete rebuild and no water in the system at all I went with the Evans Coolant also. No corrosion is what I was looking for. Had to change the water pump gasket once and reused it everything still looked new and I reused it topped it off, no overtemps or boiling for me. I have an extra gallon just sitting in storage if I ever need it. temps around 170-190 in the hot summer but never above that so far. Once when I first got it parked at Krystals for a long 20 minutes it did get up to 200* but still wasn't a problem. I can go around and take my radiator cap off and No pressure.

Since Mine was a complete engine build I used Evans. but if its a flush and all I'd just go the RMI route.

hopefully with the Evans I will not ever have to replace the water pump,heater core, thermostat or radiator again and possibly no flushes????..... we'll see. But I actually like the sound of: Lifetime coolant...

Wish I could do my 96 silverado which has had 3 water pumps 1 thermostat and 2 flushes like this(same heater core), 253,000 miles with a pin hole up at the very top in the radiator but still going. .

For those of you who go the 100% water route and don't live in the south...you better make sure you change it back out to a 50/50 antifreeze mix by winter, or that water will surely freeze and crack your block. I've seen it done a couple times with other motors. It gets really cold up here. I've ran straight 50/50 mix in 90 degree hot summer days with a front mount, the cheap f-bod alum rad, 160 thermostat, and dual fans, and temps would never go above 170. Just sayin...

Do not know anything about Evans, as I have never used it.

But lots of experience with RMI and blown head gaskets. The short answer, after doing MANY blown head gaskets on lots of GN's, it does NOT hurt the bearings.

If the engine had as much water as oil in the pan and was run even for a few minutes, the pan needs removed. The "milkshake" mixture is everywhere, and needs to be completely cleaned out.

Having done this on many street/strip cars, have never seen any problems after they have been driven thousands of miles, and some with track time.

To me, makes no sense to have A/F in a turbo Buick unless it is subjected to freezing temps.

As for Evan's coolant, I can't find the info at the moment for the life of me but I did read some where that it did not bother the bearings also, that the anti freeze and water DOES. Which is another reason why I went this route. It may have been in GMhitechPerformance mag where I read that cant remember. Plenty of info in Davidf's link in post 10.

I run Evan's in mine, but, I live in upstate NY. It starts freezing at the end of August! Silicate is what washes out bearings, Evan's doesn't have and niether does water. I also think I read somewhere that Dex-cool doesn"t contain any silicates either.Few more years and I'll be moving where I can run water and RMI! Can't wait!!! Most tracks frown on anti-freeze.. real bitch to clean up. Phil.

Thanks for the info. Nick. While I've used Evans for many years it's quite expensive to replace when you have to do a tear down and I'm not one to save coolant although I should. It hot here in Texas, damn hot, and winters here are very forgiving so I'm gonna try the distilled water here soon as I need to hook up my heater hoses in the next few months.
