everywhere i go with this car i am thinking there is someone following me just waiting for me to leave the car alone for a few minutes so they can steal it, does this happen to me only or everyone of you, last night i parked the car here at my house and had to leave it on the street because my Turbo T is inside the parking lot, and i got up like 4 times in 6 hours to make sure the GN was still there, not to mention ended up having a nightmare about the car being stolen and me calling the cops to report it and they wouldn't answer the phone... i guess i am a little paranoid

You're not alone or paranoid.

My GN was stolen out of my driveway within an hour of coming home from a car show. I was at the car show with 15 other GNs and all of them were probably nicer than mine.

At the time the GN had about 200k miles on it. Sitting beside it in the driveway was an Eagle Talon TSI in very good shape with 30k miles on it and a 1997 Camaro SS convertible with 20k miles on it. They went for the GN which was lesser in value at the time. They pushed it about 4 blocks away, but never was able to get it started, so they left it.

I would say you are not a screwball for the sheer fact alot has to do with the area you live in.

If you were in the middle of No mands land then I would say you have a few screws loose of short of a six pack.

This sounds really “redneck” but when ever I have to temporarily leave the GN outside I pull in into the back yard behind the house. My wife goes nuts when I do this.;)

How's this for paranoid....whenever I get the inevitable stoplight "gawkers" I take the long way home to make sure I'm not followed.

This is because I had a really cherry Hurst/Olds stolen from in front of my house shortly after coming home from the local Meijer store. I should have known I had a problem when I came out to 2 hillbillies looking it over and wanting to talk to me about it. Live and learn.

paranoia kinda comes with owning a turbo buick. here is the bay area, california, turbo buicks are constantly being stolen or carjacked. they spot your car and follow you to your house where they wait for the right time to get it. i know at least 4 people who have had there g.n stolen. i have one friend that has a g.n that the former owner was carjacked and shot in. its kinda bull**** that you cant really enjoy the car without having to constantly watch your back while driving it. 5 % tint so they cant see you and gps tracking is a must.

its probably your neighborhood....i live in a suburban white neighborhood in pa and noone within 5 miles of me would give my car a second look, let alone steal it......i love my car too guys, but really they're not THAT special......only the chop shop people want them

ALARM AND CUTOFF SWITCHES. These are your friend. If my alarm is tripped it kills the ignition until it is disarmed. And everytime I park I hit a hidden fuel pump cutoff. And I don't take it anywhere where I will have to walk away from it and leave it in a lonesome or dark parking lot. Column guards are a good idea too.

Your not alone for sure! I have hidden kill switches.. alarms.. alarms on the house.. clubs.. steering wheel locks.. steel bars on the garage doors.. cameras recording 24/7 and I'm still thinking about my cars all the time! I had a few stolen when I was a kid so I guess that scared me for life! Even when drivin the cars around mister 9mil is in my pocket! I need to move out in the middle of no where I guess!

On the rare occasion that I leave my car in the driveway overnight, I always park a vehicle in the street directly behind it.

It's been one week since my limited was stolen. One piece of advice: the club doesn't work. I think if I had one kill switch installed, I would still have the car today. My car wasn't worth a whole lot so its not as bad as it could have been. It is a total loss though because I only had liablility insurance.

I don't really get too nervous leaving my car in the driveway because I live in the back part of a nice neighborhood in some hick-ass town in Alabama. But I do get worried alot when I go to the mall, bowling alley, or of course the dreaded THEATER:eek:!

Has anyone that has a chip with a disarm sequence required to start the car ever had it stolen?

I hope not, because that's my only peace of mind until I'm old enough to own a handgun;)

I'm with everyone else here, that is my #1 fear closely followed by the fear of some soccermom in a Suburban plowing into it:mad: I bought the baddest alarm I could find and keep it in my garage under a cover 99% of the time. I know its just a car, but you can't just go out and find a cherry GN anymore for what most of would get out of our insurance companys. What is the best way to wire in a fuel pump cut off?

When I had my anti theft Extender I set the no start and went out of town. I came back and forgot I set it and wondered why the car would not start. :D I had to sit there for a minute to remember what I had done. And a few times when I disconnected power, it would go into valet mode. When I would go over half throttle it would die. I'd think WTF, then remember about that feature. :p Doh.

Keep living in that fantasy world dude....and keep your car locked up tight

If I lived somewhere that I had to be that concerned, I'd move.

Gotta love Alabama I guess..

Normally these are the ones that the thieves like because of your attitude. Just when you think it won't happen to you, it does. I live in a nice, suburban area too with mostly older white people for neighbors. Got a call one morning from my 80 year old neighbor asking if I was having car trouble and told me my car was in the middle of the street! That was just a '79 El Camino with my GN wheels on it.

Seems kinda funny because I am VERY close to where paul87T's car was taken from and there was also a GN stolen from Hooters on Metcalf a few years ago and, like I said, my El Camino had GN wheels on it. Makes me wonder if some people who know what to look for are looking.

Paul, where was your car taken from?

ive heard a a lot of people unplug the orange ecm wire under the hood, what car thiefs gonna know to look at that?

All of them now that you posted it on here!  Gotta remember... if you want to steal some GN's.. what's a better place then to hang on a board like this and watch and see where they are. Keep a low profile.. Keep your car well protected and keep a ton of insurance on it!!! I don't know how some of you guys only have the minimal insurance. I have mine insured for 20K Might not be worth that on paper but that's what I get paid if it gets stolen or wrecked. The blood sweat and tears part of it sucks if that happend.. but at least I'll count the money to the bank! A friend of mine put his GN away for a few years and took the insurance off it! Well guess what it was stolen and now he has nothing. :( As long as you use your head and watch your back and don't be stupid the theives will walk on by as they dont want all the drama as well.
