What are the advantages of using this boost controller as opposed to a manual controller. Cost is not a factor.

More precise control, programmable ramps and launch settings. Ramps based on time, gear position, shift input signal etc.

No, time based is the easiest way to do it. You can set the amount if time the ramp is active, amount of pressure to target at the top of the Wastegate, and amount of psi per second to rise.
