Has anyone put a thought toward a Mustang II front end or the Corvette clip? Something like an Art Morrison set-up or someone elses. A couple of hundred LESS pounds and a better handle on things so to speak... including stopping and a little more room to work on things. OH, I almost forgot Rack & Pinion Steering.

This setup in a BBBC Hudson (1952) ShowCar took me for a ride and it drove like a dream. I had to get out and have a looksee to believe it. clean as a pin
with enough room to almost dance under the hood. Time slip said 9.89, it's a SG car. What a kick this was, now I got to have me a Mustang II front end...

In case you haven't noticed, the G-body front suspension is also a double A-Arm setup with a coil-over shock arrangement.

The key is to pick the right circle track parts to fix the geometry. Search for posts from Marcus, and follow them over to montecarloss.com and start reading.

Hello Gary,

You won't save a few hundred pounds on the front end by doing steering and suspension changes alone - in fact, the most ambitious efforts with power R&P steering may save you about 50 pounds. To lose more weight will require modifying the front section of the frame, but given its rather flimsy construction from the factory, I wouldn't advise doing it without making some radical changes to the fundamental structure of the car.

I seem to recall Marcus telling me that he had a frame/suspension front-end clip from a G-body lying about the shop, and he estimated the weight of the entire assembly to be about 200 pounds. If correct, then this is an absolute bound as to any possible weight loss.

Best,
